We were fortunate to welcome Andy Shedden, Registrar for Winchester College, back to Windlesham this week. Andy’s characteristically warm and charismatic approach made the morning incredibly valuable, speaking openly about what’s important when choosing any senior school, the application process that can be expected at Winchester College and what school life might look like from Year 9 along with the valuable life skills children quickly learn. A timely visit as many of our Year 6 and 7 pupils were sitting their Pre-Tests this week. Time was of no consequence and Andy met with pupils who had both applied and been accepted to Winchester, his care of these children evident, he remembered each boy and relished the opportunity of being able to catch up with them. A takeaway from one question asked about how a child might change from the time at which they take their Pre-Tests to the point that they leave us in Year 8: Andy impressed upon the group the maintained contact with Windlesham House throughout this period, “this school knows your boy” he said “trust your school”, the thoughtful references provided by our staff clearly much valued.
