Spreading the word about how to tackle environmental challenges in a way that makes children feel empowered to make a positive change is central to our environmental plan at Windlesham House. With that in mind, we invited families to join us in enjoying the great outdoors, learning about sustainability and getting the market garden ready for a season of vegetable growing.
The parents tackled the hard jobs of weeding and digging, while the children entertained the chickens, looked for wildlife in the pond and learnt about different vegetables and how to plant them. We now have plenty of seeds in pots and lots of pea, bean, cucumber, tomato and courgette plants in the raised beds. Hopefully we can go a small way towards reducing our carbon footprints from food miles.
The feeling of community was incredible and we welcome any families who want to get involved in the future.
