This year’s edition of Windlesham Rocks was a 90 minute spectacular on a sweltering June evening with 20 acts from right across the school. The capacity crowd knew they were in for a treat as soon as the opening guitar chords of Hugo’s energetic rendition of Party in the USA rang through the MFT sound system, and they greeted every act with the same fervour, creating an amazing atmosphere. It was great to see Windlesham House favourites the Night Lizards performing Snow Patrol’s classic Chasing Cars and and we also saw the debut of the choir at this event – led by Mrs Lemanquais – with 30 singers belting out Rockstar by Great Big World. Every act delivered, too many to mention, but I must single out a couple of the girls who have contributed a great amount to the music department over the last few years and were playing in their final Windlesham Rocks as they move on to new exciting opportunities. Lissy has a wonderful voice, and she accompanied herself on the guitar in a beautifully gentle yet powerful rendition of When I Was Your Man, and Mollie brought the house down with a note perfect version of I Will Always Love You – key change and all!
