A very busy week of sport at Windlesham House saw golf, netball and cross-country added to the usual seasonal diet of hockey and football. On Tuesday the Colts A VII girls’ hockey team showed huge improvement throughout their IAPs tournament – winning 2-0 over Westbourne in the bowl semi-final before losing in a penalty shuffle shootout to Great Walstead in the final. On the same day, our golfers had another good win and the U12 netball team came through with a hard-earned win in a tightly contested cup match with Roedean.
Wednesday saw our 1st team footballers play some good football at the U13 IAPS tournament at Bedes, despite continuing to play some good football. Our ‘Albion’ VIIs remained unbeaten in their tournament at Handcross Park. The remainder of the football matches were against the might of Ardingly, usually the strongest footballing school in the area. Strong wins for the Colts B and C teams were backed up by good draws for the 2nds and Colts A, to ensure Ardingly didn’t have it all their own way. At the end of the 2nds game the opposition coach came over to the team to congratulate our boys on their performance and togetherness, and for unsettling a team that had won all of their games so far. Well done boys!
At the same time, the girls enjoyed a block of hockey against Brighton Girls School, winning five, drawing one and losing one. The 3rd VII girls hockey team played a tournament on Wednesday. They learnt a great deal and improved throughout the day. They were amazing and finished on a high, winning their last match 3-1. What a great match!
