Last Friday saw our boys compete against over 20 schools at the Hurst team athletics competition. With 30 athletes in 14 different events. Once again levels of experience ranged from ‘veteran’ performers to complete debutants, with every athlete doing themselves proud. There were too many great performances to list them all, but a special mention to the two captains Matthew and Taylor who led by example all day and won their 100m and 1500m respectively, with Archie also coming first in hurdles, the Year 8 relay team once again dominant and Harrison running superb times in both the 800m and 300m to finish second in both. Windlesham finished champions of the senior section and second overall with Westbourne in first and Brighton College in third – the top three separated by only 13 points.
On Thursday a small Year 4 team had their chance to shine at the Dorset House athletics event. The eight children involved all competed in one individual discipline before combining at the end to run the relay. The boys’ team of Alwyne, Percy, Cooper and Bertie finished as runners-up, with the girls’ team of Maggie, Clemmie, Isio and Poppy finishing as champions. Well done everyone!
